zerolab(d) launch February 15th, 2011

zerolab(d) is a collaborative project developed by artist and designer, Katherine Soucie to produce the first in house design label for My Sister's Closet, a thrift store & clothing boutique featuring local designers and artisans from Vancouver, Canada. This space was developed by the Battered Women's Support Services, a non-profit organization that provides support and advocacy for women who have experienced abuse. Their unique retail program is designed to encourage economic self-sufficiency by providing skill-based training workshops as well as a retail space for women artisans. Utilizing the unsaleable donation materials obtained from their warehouse, Soucie is in the process of implementing a system that will allow this organization to produce a clothing label out of these discarded materials. By creating this opportunity, it will enable for design possibilities and skill development within the organization that will encourage a more sustainable art, design and business practice.

On February 15th, 2011 the first series of garments produced under the  (zero.O.lab) design label will be installed at My Sister's Closet, Yaletown, 1092 Seymour Street in Vancouver, Canada.  This evening will also feature a performance installation by artist Shannon Lazzarotto, music by High Society and much, much more!!!
